Understanding Omega-3
What is it?
- Found in cold-water fatty fish, Omega-3 fatty acids are fats that are actually good for you. In fact, Omega-3s are as important to your health as vitamins and minerals — yet they are largely missing in the American diet. That's a problem, because your body can't manufacture Omega-3s. Therefore, the only way to get them is through the foods you eat.
What does it do?
- Omega-3 Fatty Acids Reduce Your Triglycerides.* Triglycerides are a type of unhealthy fat found in your blood. Elevated levels of triglycerides put your heart at risk. Lower your triglycerides and you increase your chances of a long, healthy life.
Why do we need it?
- Healthy heart - Omega-3 fish oil can actually lower your LDL cholesterol (your bad cholesterol) and your triglycerides and increase your HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol) levels.
- Helps with depression If you’ve been down in the dumps or suffering from depression, you may just need some Omega-3 fish oil to give yourself a boost. Omega-3 fish oil works much like pharmaceutical antidepressants and can help improve your mood. It's even been used to treat serious conditions such as bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.
- Omega-3 fish oil can help aid in arthritis, memory loss, and dementia. It's even been proven to slow down the advancement of Alzheimer's
Hear what the experts say...
- According to the FDA, "Supportive, but not conclusive research shows that consumption of EPA and DHA Omega-3 fatty acids may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease."
- The American Heart Association recommends Omega-3s to folks with elevated triglycerides.
Not all products are created equally
- Many contain a low concentration of Omega-3s and a high amount of non-Omega-3 fats.
- Look at the label to get a better understanding of your product.
If you look at the example on the left, you will notice that there is 1200mg of Fish Oil, 1032mg of which is Omega-3. That is 86%. The example on the right is only 34% (680/2000). The higher the concentration of Omega-3 means the lower the concentration of fatty non-Omega-3 fatty acids. Be sure to buy products with the highest concentration level of Omega-3 fatty acids.
The fish oil in Omeganol contains over 86% omega-3, which means that Omeganol delivers more value per serving than most of the common, store bought omega-3 supplements.
